Coastal wetlands project shows progress halfway to completion
DEL MAR â€“ The birds are already casing the place, despite the rumbling excavators and bulldozers busily digging and hauling soil along a network of dirt roads. They are endangered California least terns, and when the machinery is gone, there will be nesting sites for them and Belding's Savannah sparrows.

Work on $86 million lagoon restoration to begin
DEL MAR ---- After nearly 15 years of planning, legal wrangling and securing permits, an $86 million restoration of the San Dieguito Lagoon is to begin this month.
